Boarding facilities

Tortoises on Holiday provide both indoor and ourdoor facilities. The outdoor facilties are suitable for most adult tortoises but not the tropical tortoises such as the Indian Stars. Tortoises on Holiday have indoor facilities to support tropical species such as the Indian Stars and juveniles tortoises.

All tortoises of different species are kept separate at all times and the same species of different customers are not kept together. 

Outdoor facilities

All of the outdoor enclosures are planted with natural graze on good quality topsoil.  Each enclosure has a shelter and shrubs for shade as well as a greenhouse covered area.  During very wet weather the enclosures are covered leaving the mesh sides open for ventilation.  All sides and tops are secure to prevent any predators from getting in as well as your tortoise getting out. All-year round the tortoises have access to sheltered accommodation with a heatlamp which is on in the cooler months of the year. All facilities have permanent access to cuttlebone and water which is change regulary.  All food supplied to the tortoises are supplemented with vitamins and minerals appropriate for each species.

Indoor facilities

All of the indoor enclosures have thermostatically controlled heatlamps and UV lighting.  The substrate is sand and sterilised topsoil in the appropriate ratios for the species of tortoise being housed.  The tortoises have permanent access to water with our uniquely designed easy-access non-tipable water bowls.

All food supplied to the tortoises are supplemented with vitamins and minerals.

Prices

The weekly rates per tortoise are;

• £35.00 pounds for the first week 
• £33.25 pounds for the second week or following weeks
• These rates do not apply to the Over-Wintering service
